YESTERDAY: 1-1 (+4 units)
FEBRUARY: 13-12-1 (+21.6 units)
ALL TIME: 13-12-1 (+21.6 units)
RECAP: Monmouth was able to cruise to a easy 20 point win. They shot lights out from behind the arc hitting 13 of their 24 attempts. What can I say? MAAC basketball!!! Hitting this bet should have had us feeling pretty comfortable going into our homer parlay. Either way we were going to finish the night winners. Then the games start... Toews goes for 3 goals and 2 assists to lead the hawks to a 5-3 victory. The Hoosiers are winning. It's looking good. WE ARE GOING TO HIT BIG TODAY! 5 minutes left and Indiana is up 8. Then it happens... Turnovers, missed free throws, and poor defense. Before we know it we are headed to overtime with the Hoosiers in foul trouble. Then, just to mess with us, in overtime we get the first 2 points. It was over after that, Indiana was gassed and really never seemed to be in it the rest of overtime. Usually parlays don't hurt too bad, but I'll admit this one stings. I know Noah would be in his room listening to Hamilton after a late defeat like that. Well, we must move on and count the shekels we were able to bring home last night. One more day without the NBA. Lets see what today has to offer.
OREGON -4.5 at California
8pm central
(11 units wagered, 10 units won)
It seems that every time I watch Oregon, I find myself saying, this team really has a chance at winning a national championship. Led by Dillon Brooks this team is stacked with five scorers averaging double digits. Ivan Rabb and Jabari Bird will put up a fight for The Golden Bears. I just don't trust their supporting cast to keep up with Oregon's. The Ducks are 2nd in the Pac 12 in scoring with 79.8 ppg, sitting only behind UCLA who is averaging a ridiculous 92.3 ppg. California is 10th in the conference in this category and is averaging just under 70 ppg. Cal is no slouch in the conference however, and does have a 9-5 record in the Pac 12. That being said, last time these two teams played Oregon won by 23. Oregon sits at 15 in the Kenpom rankings making them one of the most dangerous teams in the country. Cal is currently at 47. When The Ducks get going they are almost impossible to stop. The Golden Bears have lost their last two games and I don't see The Ducks being a easy team to bounce back against. Take Oregon here and watch them score early and often.
DUKE -3.5 at Syracuse
6pm central
(11 units wagered, 10 units won)
I'll be honest, this does have a trap feel to me. However, the numbers are too much to ignore. Trusty Kenpom has Duke at 12 and Syracuse at 47. I know home court advantage is big in college basketball. Especially at The Carrier Dome. Duke just has too much NBA talent to care. Three or Four of their player could hear their names read by Adam Silver in the first round of the NBA draft. Headlined by Luke Kennard, Jayson Tatum, and Grayson Allen. When this team is on they can really be a hassle. Just like California, Syracuse is on a three game losing streak. Oregon is not a fun team to break your streak against, neither is Duke. The Blue Devils are averaging almost 82 ppg. Syracuse is 117th in the nation at opponent ppg. The Orange are averaging 72 ppg in their last 5 games. They will need to have a well above average game scoring, in order to keep up with The Blue Devils. I think Duke will put up 90, EASY. Duke hasn't reached their full potential yet. I think this game gets them going further in that direction.
Butler +10 at Villanova
8pm central
(11 units wagered, 10 units won)
Not too many numbers here. The facts are:
1.Butler won their last matchup
2.Butler is the 2nd best team in the Big East
We very well may see these two teams match up in the Big East Tournament Championship. I expect Villanova to come out angry about the last time these two faced off. That being said Butler is a prideful team that can play with anyone in the nation. I think this game goes down to the wire. Regardless of who comes out on top, we should be able to cover the 10 point spread.
MISSOURI STATE -3.5 at Bradley
7pm central
(11 untis wagered, 10 units won)
Bradley won on Saturday. Bradley has not won back to back games this season since the first two games. They are really, really awful sitting at 235 in the Kenpom rankings. Missouri State isn't great either, sitting at 128, but last time they played they were able to win by 14. Although Missouri State's record is nothing spectacular, they are still 3rd in the conference in scoring. Bradley sits at 10th. Bradley can't score and they don't stop anyone from scoring. Most importantly, Braves expert Justin Reisman has informed me, its never a bad bet to go against the Braves.
Go far go bradley go brandon rubin!
