LAST NIGHT: 1-2 (-12 units)
FEBRUARY: 2-2 (-2 units)
ALL TIME: 2-2 (-2 units)
RECAP: Although we weren't able to have a winning night yesterday, I hope everyone enjoyed the reality tv spectacle that was Madison Square Garden last night. Charles Oakley being forcibly removed from the arena was truly ridiculous to see. As someone who has given their heart to the New York franchise I am surprised he was treated with such disrespect. Oakley who has been openly critical of Dolan has been punished by not receiving tickets and being excluded from organization events. Now I don't know what was said by Oakley, but I have a feeling it wasn't too much. Even if it was, Dolan deserves it. Almost made me thankful to be a Bulls fan. Blake and Deandre totaled for 60 points on 23-37 shooting. Blake was hard to stop Richie. The Wiz blew it and the Celtics sucked most of the night while I slept. Maybe if I was awake they would have called me out there to run the point. Enough about yesterday, follow me back into the positives tonight.
HOUSTON ROCKETS -3.5 at Charlotte Hornets
6pm central
(11 units wagered, 10 units won)
Cody Zeller is back tonight, and I couldn't care less. Just kidding Cody, I love you. The Hornets have won three of their last ten games. TWO OF THOSE VICTORIES HAVE COME AGAINST THE NETS. Don't get me wrong, Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum are no joke and they will put up big numbers against a Rockets defense that can sometimes take a night off. I just don't see a way that Charlotte will slow down Harden and Co. Charlotte is ranked 7th in defensive efficency which is one thing that scared me when making this pick, but when you look at the last time the Rockets played a team in the top 5 of defensive efficiency they put up 119 points. There is no defense for shooting the most threes in the league. If you make enough of them you are going to win. The Rockets are shooting over 39 three point shots per game and 44 per game over the past three games. The Rockets are shooting 36.3% from behind the 3 point line 11th in the league, despite shooting the most shots. Memphis is 3rd in the league in defending the three pointer yet they had no answer for it when they played the Rockets. Charlotte is 14th in this category. Maybe the Rockets come out missing in Charlotte, I just don't see it going that way.
Detroit Red Wings at WASHINGTON CAPITALS -1.5
6pm central
(10 units wagered, 11.6 units won)
Noah says to take the Caps so I guess we are taking the Caps. Now you might say, Noah is a biased Caps fan. Throughout this season this has not been the case. The man knows when to pick em and when to leave em. I am sure that he will be writing about it today so check him out at 007sportsandpopc.blogspot.com. The money makes sense and Washington is absolutely outstanding on their home ice. They have a record of 22-5-1 at the Verizon Center. On top of that at this point in the season the Red Wings have a goal differential of -21, The Caps......+66. They are 8-2 in their last 10 and I don't see them slowing down against a Red Wings team that has failed to compete all season. One small scare is that the Red Wings do have a better record on the road than they do at home (11-9-5). That being said, I fully expect the Capitals to come out and take care of business just like they did on Monday against Carolina. Take the Caps tonight and watch them get one step closer to being knocked out of the playoffs in the Conference Finals.
