LAST NIGHT: 0-1 (-11 units)
FEBRUARY: 8-8-1 (+1.1 units)
ALL TIME: 8-8-1 (+1.1 units)
RECAP: Wow, IONA is fun to watch. They may not have been able to win the game, but I count it as a victory, that I may have gotten some people interested in that amazing game. I may have doubled their viewing numbers through this blog. It seemed like no one would miss on either side. If Iona didn't have 4 or 5 turnovers in the final 3 minutes, they would have been able to pull out the victory. Losses happen, Iona is still my pick to win the MAAC tournament. We will move on and make it back today.
NEVADA -6 at Air Force
8pm central
(11 units wagered, 10 units won)
A few days ago we bet on this team... and they really let us down. They came out soft and were only able to put up 56 points against a San Diego State team who had given up 76 points a few nights earlier, to the lowly San Jose State Spartans. Air Force is not San Diego State. San Diego State, was close to Nevada in the Kenpom rankings. Nevada currently sits at 75. Air Force, 211. Marcus Marshall leads the Mountain West in scoring. I expect Marshall and his fellow Wolf Pack, who are first in the Mountain West in ppg, to be able to score at will against a Air Force team who is ranked 239 in opponent ppg. Nevada still has a chance at winning the Mountain West and could use a big win against a cupcake team. When has someone in your wolf pack let you down twice? Take Nevada tonight, give them a second chance.
Charlotte Hornets at Toronto Raptors -6.5
6:30pm central
(11 units wagered, 10 units won)
I can see how this may be a trap. Toronto hasn't been too hot lately and Charlotte has to turn it around eventually, don't they? Just kidding! Charlotte is f***ing terrible as of late. We took Sixers moneyline against them and we aren't going to stop riding on them here. Over their past 20 games this season, they have beaten 3 teams not named the Brooklyn Nets. Even the two games in that span, against the Nets were nailbitters. Both games went down to the wire, each game ending within 5 points. The Raptors have traded for Serge Ibaka and I believe tonight should be his first night with the team. Although he may only see spot minute, I believe the addition of Serge will give the team a morale boost. Ibaka is the defensive presence at the 4 the Raptors have needed all season. Ibaka should be able to create space for Derozan and Lowry going forward. I think he will come out with something to prove to his new teammates. He will be looking for his shots, as well as looking to show how much of a defensive presence he can be. Lets continue to stomp on the Charlotte Mosquitoes, until they prove they can protect their hive like Hornets.
76ers +10 at Boston Celtics
6:30pm central
(11 units wagered, 10 units won)
The Celtics are 10-1 in their last 11 games. Saying that they are a hot team would be an understatement. That being said, 7 of those 10 wins were within 10 points. They have been leaving games tight until the very end for Isaiah "4th Quarter" Thomas to finish out. The Sixers are currently riding a three game winning streak into Boston. This 76ers team can compete with anybody. Dario Saric continues to stay hot without Joel Embiid, and Nerlens Noel looks more comfortable now that it trading Jahlil Okafor has become a become a bigger priority for the team. The flight from Philly to Boston isn't a long one, so I don't see fatigue being a big factor. I expect the Sixers to come out and compete for 48 minutes. Who will win? I don't know... But we should be in for a close one.
