Siena Saints at IONA GAELS -1.5

MAAC CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! ARE YOU READY?!?!?! Iona and I have had a up and down relationship since we started our blog journey. They are my favorite team in MAAC to watch. One of the reason they are my favorite, is they are first in the MAAC in 3 point percentage. Three of their shooters, who are averaging over 19 mpg, are shooting over 40% from three. Sometimes it seems like they will never miss. Siena is 10th out of 11 in The MAAC at 3 point field goal percentage. If Siena is unable to make 3 point shots, they have no chance of keeping up with The Gaels.  Jordan Washington is an absolute monster averaging almost 18 points and 8 rebounds per game. Siena upset our Monmouth pick yesterday, and it is time for our Gaels to get our revenge. Iona has been there for us more times than not this year. They won't let us down. Go Gaels!

Brooklyn Nets at MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES -12

A lot of people don't know this, but the heart grit and grind Grizzlies, are my Western Conference team I cheer for. The story of how this started, began my sophomore year of college. I had a wager on the Grizzlies who were down 22 points halfway through the 4th quarter. Sitting with hometown fan Max Alpert, he assured me not to worry. The Grizz, grinded their way back and won that game. Later that year, Max invited me to a preseason game against the Pacers, and I have been hooked on the Grizz ever since. Their defensive style of play, along with their hard work and passion make them a fun team to watch and cheer for. Players like Tony Allen play the game with the same passion and intensity you see out of me on the court. I have been waiting all season for the perfect Grizzly pick and I believe this is it. Memphis is coming off back to back losses on the road. They will take advantage of their opportunity to crush a cupcake team, and get their confidence back. Brooklyn has won 2 of their last 30 games. They have the worst point per game differential in the league at over -9. Brook Lopez is the only real weapon on Brooklyn, and he has a rough match up tonight against Marc Gasol. Lastly this is the Nets 6th game in a row on the road, and I believe they are over it. Memphis is 4th in the league in opponent ppg, and they should suffocate the Nets offense, as they long for their beds in Brooklyn. Take Memphis tonight as the Heart, Grit, and Grind.. Protects their house.

RECAP: 76ers played no defense and let up 125 points in a blow out loss. We also lost on another team that couldn't put the game away until overtime.  A late goal by Carolina to tie the game, sealed our fate. Carolina wouldn't need to pull the goalie, and we would go on to lose, regardless of the overtime outcome. I think my terrible Lightning joke, at the end of yesterdays write up, might be the sole reason we lost. I apologize. Moving on... Busy Day, Short and Sweet.

RECAP: That was a rough end to the month. Indiana was in foul trouble the entire second half, and had no one left to slow down Purdue's big men. The Hoosiers fell by 11, half a point too much. Luckily for some, like my brother Cameron, the line had moved to 11 before the game, and they were able to push. I was not as fortunate. Florida Panthers were able to produce a victory, but not until a shoot out. Two close losses ALWAYS means two close wins are on the horizon. Stay tuned for March picks. It's going to be a fantastic month!

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS +9.5 at Miami Heat

Miami really screwed us the other night, putting up 89 points in a loss to the Mavs. Tonight they try to bounce back against a resilient Sixers team, that has gotten used to life without Joel Embiid. The emergence of Dario Saric has helped immensely. Since Joel has been out Dario has put up amazing numbers, and is even making an argument for rookie of the year. Saric has 4 double doubles in his last 5 games. Over Dario's last 10 games he is shooting 47%. Saric should be a big factor in this game. Since the All Star break the 76ers have a point differential of -1.3. The 76ers are able to keep games tight by playing a team game, currently sitting at 9th in the league in assists. We saw last game, Miami can sometimes rely on one on one scorers, and are 22nd in the league in assist. Jahlil Okafor and Richaun Holmes should continue to get more comfortable in their roles with the team since Nerlens Noel has departed. As these players get more comfortable, now that the frontcourt isn't as crowded, I expect the 76ers to improve even more. On February 11th, these two teams matched up in Miami. Philadelphia was victorious 117 to 109. The Sixers lead the series 2-1. Even if Miami is able to win the game, I am confident Phili keeps it close. Roll with the 76ers tonight and trust the process.


Carolina Hurricanes at TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING -1.5 +155

We are going to take another shot against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight. They should be tired from beating the spread last night at the BB&T center. Tampa was able to win on Monday 5-1 against Ottawa, before a day of rest. The Lightning are hot with a 6-2-2 record in their last 10. The Hurricanes should also be without their leading point scorer, Jeff Skinner, who is out with a upper body injury. On top of that, Carolina has lost 7 of its last 8 games. I believe The Lightning stay ELECTRIC tonight, and SHOCK the Hurricanes with a multiple goal victory. I know... that was awful... I'm sorry.
